Shane Wright was pegged to go first overall at the NHL draft as soon as he was granted exceptional status in the OHL. However, he fell to fourth.
With the emergence of players like David Jiricek, Brad Lambert, and Lane Hutson, Wright's D+1 season has lulled behind pretty spectacularly, and clearly the Kraken organization doesn't trust him fully.
Wright a Healthy Scratch in the AHL
Following being swept by the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL as the first-seed, Wright was assigned to Coachella Valley of the AHL.
With the CV Firebirds making a serious push for the Calder Cup, it would be expected that the fourth overall picks' intelligence and tools would be a great boost.
However, Wright has now been a healthy scratch in two games, and will likely see himself in the press box for a third after a tough performance last night.

Worry Setting In
It's puzzling why Wright, such a cerebral player at the junior level, can't put it together in the pros. If he can't be a bottom-six centre on an AHL team, it is definitely a red flag.
