Brendan Shanahan is on the GM hunt and he is asking a surprising figure for help in finding one.

Gary Bettman Now Involved in the Leafs' Search for a New GM

After firing Kyle Dubas, Brendan Shanahan announced to the world he is on the hunt for a new GM to take Dubas' place. While there are plenty of qualified candidates for the role, Shanahan wants to make sure he is getting the best option available.

Shanahan has asked Gary Bettman for aid in finding their next GM which is a shocking move considering Bettmans reputation amongst fans. However, Bettman is in contact with basically anybody involved with the NHL and he would be able to point the Leafs in a direction they may not currently be considering.


One way they are considering is to look into former Flames GM, Brad Treliving. NHL insider Frank Seravalli tweeted this out earlier today.

Could Treliving Be The Solution?

Treliving is known for being able to hold down a position with the Flames for nearly a decade which is quite an achievement considering the turnover rate amongst GMs of Canadian teams.

Treliving made many bold moves in his time with Calgary and that may just be what the Leafs need. If they were to have Treliving as GM, they could potentially trade a core four member.
