NHL Team Will See Arena Demolished After a Billion-Dollar Development Deal
The legendary arena, home to one Stanley Cup victory and numerous superstar players, is set to be demolished in the near future.
New Development Plan in Calgary
The Saddledome's demolition comes after repeated requests for a new arena by players and fans alike. A $1.2-billion development deal has been approved to construct a new state-of-the-art facility.
In addition, the Calgary Stampede will move to the current site of the Saddledome once it is demolished.
Bittersweet Goodbye
While the new arena will be a welcome addition to Calgary, it is with mixed emotions that fans bid farewell to one of hockey's most iconic buildings.
