Sheldon Keefe, the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, seemed to become fed up with forward Michael Bunting on Sunday. During an on-ice altercation in a game against Nashville that required Bunting's teammates to calm him down before a penalty was assessed, Keefe reprimanded Bunting upon his return to the bench. However, Bunting appeared to disregard Keefe's remarks and refused to make eye contact with him, prompting Keefe to tap him on the shoulder to ensure he was paying attention. Bunting may have even rolled his eyes in response.

After the conversation with Keefe, Bunting was benched for the remainder of the game, which amounted to just over six minutes. Despite this, Toronto was able to maintain their 3-2 lead and secure a victory over the Predators. While Bunting is known for his willingness to defend himself and his teammates, Keefe was clearly more interested in avoiding a penalty that could have resulted in a tie game at the end of regulation.
