The ESPN 30 for 30 series has provided sports enthusiasts with exceptional insights into significant sports-related incidents throughout history. While the network airs reruns of the show on its flagship channel and TSN in Canada, a new installment is in the works, focusing on the 2011 Vancouver Stanley Cup riots.

Following the Canucks' defeat to the Boston Bruins in game seven, a destructive riot broke out, causing widespread damage. Directors Asia Youngman and Kathleen Jayme have compiled footage captured by hundreds of cell phones, which will help provide a behind the scenes look at not just what occurred, but why it happened as well.
The filmmakers aimed to delve beyond the incident itself and answer the fundamental question of why it occurred. They sought to explore why people often become swept up in the emotions of victory and defeat, leading otherwise normal individuals to engage in regrettable behavior.
The documentary is being produced by ESPN Films, with further details to be announced at a later date.
