Mantha drops the mitts with Martinook for outdoor game fight at 2023 Stadium Series (video)
Outdoor games have become a staple of the NHL's calendar for the past 15 years. It's not uncommon to see frustrations boil over in these outdoor games and that happened during Saturday night's Stadium Series in Carolina.
With just over six minutes to play in the middle frame, Anthony Mantha dropped the gloves with Jordan Martinook, as he tried to spark his team, who were down 4-0 at that point to the Hurricanes.
The fight itself didn't last that long, with Mantha having not only the size advantage, but also had his gloves off before Martinook and was throwing punches. The two exchanged a couple of blows, before Martinook got 'jerseyed' and taken to the ice by Mantha. As always, both players were handed five-minute majors for fighting.
The Hurricanes would go on to take the victory in their first-ever outdoor game by a score of 4-1.
