You've heard of the Teddy Bear Toss. But what about the Bra & Underpants Toss?
The Maine Mariners - ECHL Affiliate of the Boston Bruins - are hosting such an event on Sunday during their game against the Atlanta Gladiators. After the Mariners' opening goal, fans are invited to litter the ice with undergarments and sports bras.
This Sunday, come throw underwear and sports bras on the ice after the first Mariners goal, and see @todd_angilly perform the National Anthem! Get your tickets here: https://t.co/hiL4aZBXkZ #CatchTheCurrent pic.twitter.com/mvttNbXdAC— Maine Mariners (@MarinersOfMaine) February 16, 2023
One small caveat: they cannot be 'used' undergarments. Per the Mariners' website:
"Bring new, unopened packages of underwear or sports bras to throw onto the ice after the Mariners first goal! Proceeds will be donated to Preble Street and the Sports Bra Project. It's also Women in Sports Day."
Preble Street assists folks with homelessness among similar issues, including access to clothing, food, etc. What a creative method of helping others, marketing a 'Bras & Underpants Toss' for charitable purposes.
Hats off to the Mariners for this one.
