The Vegas Golden Knights announced on Wednesday that captain Mark Stone will be out indefinitely after undergoing back surgery on Tuesday.
He initially suffered the injury in early January, with the team listing him as week-to-week with an upper-body injury. The Golden Knights said that after going through rehab on his back, he suffered a setback which led to Tuesday's surgery.
Stone, 30, has spent parts of the last five seasons with the Golden Knights after he was traded to Vegas from Ottawa in 2019. In 43 games, the Winnipeg native has 38 points (17 goals, 21 assists), ten penalty minutes and is a plus-11.
It'll be interesting to see if the Golden Knights opt to place Stone on long-term injured reserve, which would open up $9.5 million for the team to use ahead of March 3rd's trade deadline.
