Canucks rookie Andrei Kuzmenko drawing interest from teams around the NHL
Vancouver Canucks rookie forward Andrei Kuzmenko is enjoying a pretty solid first year in the National Hockey League, after spending the previous eight seasons in the KHL.
When Kuzmenko decided to head to North America, he was highly coveted by teams around the NHL, but it was the Canucks who ultimately landed him, signing the 26-year-old to a one-year contract worth $1 million.
The Canucks' season isn't going as many expected and while Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser's names have been front and center when it comes to trade rumours, one name that is drawing interest is the aforementioned Andrei Kuzmenko.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Canucks have yet to begin contract negotiations with Kuzmenko and that teams from around the National Hockey League are calling Patrik Allvin to check on his availability, but the team is not sure if they are wanting to trade him.
He added, :But for now, the Canucks aren't even sure they want to move him. They want to try and see if they can sign him. I think the price starts at at least $6 million per year on a bridge deal for Kuzmenko to stay in Vancouver, where by all accounts he is quite happy."
The Yakutsk (Russia) native is nearly a point-per-game player in his rookie campaign in the NHL. In 38 games, he's put up 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists), two penalty minutes and is a plus-seven.
