Jake Virtanen spotted at night club just days before team training camp
On Tuesday night, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Jake Virtanen was spotted at a local night club. Now, he faces heavy criticism.
The Province reports that Virtanen was seen in a video clip at Vancouver night club "Celebrities". In the video, which has since been removed, Virtanen was seen without a face mask in a crowded area, which is what he is now under fire for.
The video has led to critique from supporters claiming it's irresponsible, just days before the 10th of July when NHL teams are supposed to begin training camps. Reportedly, the Canucks themselves have also brought up the incident with the 2014 sixth overall pick.
An exact date for when the league will return to play is yet to be set. However, the aim is to have it some time in August.
