The St. Louis Blues are starting the new year in not the most ideal fashion. On Monday, the team announced that forward Ryan O'Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko will miss several weeks with their respective injuries.

O'Reilly, 31, will miss at least six weeks after suffering a broken foot, while Tarasenko, 31, is set to be out for four weeks with a hand injury.

The news is not good for the Blues, especially with the NHL's trade deadline just over two months away. St. Louis currently sits fifth in the Central Division and while it's unclear how Doug Armstrong will approach the trade deadline, there's a very good chance he would like to move O'Reilly and Tarasenko, both of whom are UFA's at season's end, if they are unable to re-sign them.

In a corresponding move, the Blues announced that 2022 first-round pick Jake Neighbours has been called up from the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds.
