Alex Ovechkin Caps Off Rout of the Montréal Canadiens with Wholesome Moment
Alex Ovechkin's is one of the greatest stories of the NHL in the 2022-23 season, recently passing Mr. Hockey himself on the NHL's All-Time Goals list. Washington's captain is well within striking distance of The Great One's total of 894, which was thought to be untouchable until Ovechkin came along.
Ovi's pursuit of Gretzky's record has taken a firm grip on NHL lore this season, and as always, he keeps finding new ways to turn heads. In Sunday's 9-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens, Ovechkin scored a hat-trick bringing his career total to 806.
The Habs just lost 9-2 in front of all the players' moms, by the way. And after scoring a hat-trick on the ice, Ovechkin posed for a photo with all the Habs' moms, which feels utterly hilarious.
Hilarious but wholesome...
Ovechkin's career has morphed into legend, so it is totally unsurprising - reasonable even - that parents of opposing players jump at a photo opportunity with him.
Something about dropping a hatty and following it up by posing with the mothers of the players on whom you just dropped said hatty just has a legendary feel to it...
