After three years with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL, Swedish forward Dmytro Timashov cracked the Maple Leafs line-up this year. In 39 games, the 23-year-old scored four goals and five assists for the Leafs for a total of nine points, before being picked up from waivers by the Detroit Red Wings. With the Red Wings, he played five games without getting a point. Timashov's contract with Detroit expires this summer, and it's been unclear where the former 5th round pick will spend next season.

Now, according to the Russian Sport-Express, Timashov is close to signing a deal with Latvian KHL side Dinamo Riga. If he does, the speedy winger would be a welcome reinforcement to the team, who finished the KHL season second to last.
