A signed Mike Trout rookie card has set a new record at Goldin Auctions' Spring 2020 Premium Auction on Wednesday night, selling for $900,000.

The 2009 Bowman Draft Chrome Red Refractor card broke the record for the highest-priced modern-day baseball card and has tied a LeBron James-Michael Jordan card for the most expensive modern-day card of all time, according to Action Network's Darren Rovell.

The Red Refractor is the second-rarest version of Trout's top card with only five copies in existence, according to Ryan Cracknell of Beckett.

Since Trout debuted in 2011, he has taken over the major leagues and quickly become regarded as one of the greatest baseball players to ever play. He has 1324 career hits, 285 homeruns, and a career .305 batting average at only the age of 28.

The day after his rookie card became almost as famous as the Philly native, the Angels and MLB recognized a memorable moment for Trout. On May 21, 2011 Mike Trout became the youngest American League player to ever hit for the cycle.
