A new report by the New York Post states at least one club in the NHL has told its players to be ready to report to informal workouts by May 15th. The unnamed club also stated the workouts would precede a three week training camp that would be held before the 2019-20 season resumes.

Larry Brooks, the reporter who wrote the piece by the Post, says he contacted NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly for comment.

"I don't know what clubs are telling their players,” Daly wrote to Brooks. “We have not specified or articulated any 'target dates' to our clubs at this point.”

Several plans for the return and eventual finish of the season have been thrown around but the one that came straight from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is the idea of using up to four sites that are already home to an NHL team. Those arenas would already have all of the infrastructure in place that is needed to broadcast games. While it's a possibility fans may be able to attend those game, it seems more likely at this point that they'll take place in empty arenas.

The main issue would likely be the constant testing and re-testing of players, staff, officials and broadcast crews that would be required to pull this off. The NHL would be spending a lot of money on those test kits, if they can access them at all.
