As the NHL's 19-20 season continues to remain paused, dating back to March 12th, amidst the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the league is now seeking other creative routes to get hockey to the fans.

The NHL announced on Thursday, it's newly founded partnership with ESL Gaming. The partnership will feature roughly 50 NHL athletes going head-to-head in NHL 20.

The matchups are set to take place over the course of four weeks time, beginning April 30th.

The first matchup will see brothers Brady and Matthew Tkachuk battling it out, in a matchup between the Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames.

The games will be aired via Sportsnet One, as well as live streaming on Sportsnet NOW and associated streaming platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitch.) The matchups will be hosted virtually by Los Angeles Kings play-by-play announcer Alex Faust.

In addition to the matchups, the NHL Foundation and Electronic Arts have also announced their intent to donate a combined $100,000 in support of the COVID-19 relief efforts.
