Major League Baseball has been discussing how they will pursue starting the 2020 regular season, for now they have remained extremely fluid during the COVID-19 shutdown, with their latest idea involving a season spread throughout three states: Texas, Arizona, and Florida.

For St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong, he likes the idea but he sees the rising summer temperatures in those three locations as one of the biggest hurdles to clear.

"The hot summer coming up in Florida and Arizona, I don't see it being too sustainable for a long-term situation," DeJong said Wednesday on the MLB Network Radio. "I'd definitely like to see some sort of transition period where we can maybe do something like the Arizona-Texas-Florida thing, but then we have a plan to get to our home cities."

While the major-league stadiums in the proposed locations (e.g. Chase Field, Marlins Park) have domes, the other facilities are all open-air ballparks.

DeJong also added that he would miss playing in St. Louis and in front of the Cardinals' fan base.

"I'd like to see us all back in our home cities," DeJong said. "I really want to play in St. Louis this summer in front of all these great fans."
