With the Bruins without a trio of defenceman potentially for the start of the 2022-23 season, the team has gone out and added a blueliner from Europe.
On Tuesday, the Bruins announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year, entry-level contract worth $825,000 with German defenceman Kai Wissmann.
Wissmann, 25, has spent parts of the last eight seasons in Germany's top division, the DEL, where he's played for Eisbaren Berlin. In 55 games this season for Berlin, Wissmann put up twenty points (four goals, sixteen assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a plus-31. He added seven points in twelve playoff games as Berlin won the DEL championship.
Following the DEL playoffs, Wissmann represented Germany at the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship, where had a very strong showing. The Villingen-Schwenningen native had seven points in eight games.
