The Air Force Academy says a man died Saturday night following the NHL Stadium Series hockey game between the Colorado Avalanche and L.A. Kings held at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs. Not many details are being released at this time.
According to the Academy, the man was a civilian not affiliated with the AFA or the Department of Defense. His death is currently being investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and local law enforcement agencies. More details are expected at a later time.
The man's identity has not been released nor are officials explicitly stating the death is related to the hockey game in any way. More than 40,000 people were in attendance to watch the game where the Kings downed the Avs 3-1. Many spectators have reported terrible traffic conditions that turned a 45 minute drive into one lasting four and a half hours. Some are demanding a refund saying the event was poorly planned and they weren't able to make it to the stadium until the second intermission of the game.
