Jesperi Kotkaniemi Defends Derek Stepan & Punishes St. Louis' Alexei Toropchenko (Video)

Last night the Carolina Hurricanes squared off against the St. Louis Blues. At the 14-minute mark of the second period, STL F Alexei Toropchenko (6'1", 220lbs) caught CAR F Derek Stepan with an awkward check that left Stepan woozy. The entire Hurricanes' bench rallied behind their teammate, but it was former Montreal Canadien Jesperi Kotkaniemi who did the did the dirty work. KK beat the wheels off of Toropchenko so bad, he pulled the Russian's jersey over his head. I believe the act is commonly referred to as "decapitating" someone. See video below:

Carolina absolutely smoked St. Louis in this one by a final score of 7-2. Both teams are back in action on Monday 3/28. The Canes play the Washington Capitals & the Blues square off against the Vancouver Canucks.
