The Dallas Stars announced on Tuesday that goaltender Anton Khudobin underwent hip surgery on Monday and will be out of action for the next six months.

In a statement, general manager Jim Nill said, "Anton Khudobin underwent a right hip arthroscopy and labral repair, preformed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY, on March 14th.

The rehabilitation and recovery time is approximately six months from the date of the surgery."

Khudobin, 35, has split time between the Dallas Stars and their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars, during the 2021-22 season. In nine games with Dallas, he has a record of 3-4-1 with a 3.63 GAA, and an .879 save percentage.

The injury and now surgery for Khudobin will likely make Jim Nill re-think what he'll do with Braden Holtby leading up to the deadline. The Stars sit one point out of the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and clearly believe they can get into the playoffs this season.
