The Dallas Stars will be without defenceman Miro Heiskanen for an indefinite period. On Thursday, the team announced that they've placed the 22-year-old on injured reserve, retroactive to March 2nd, after he was diagnosed with Mononucleosis.

For those who don't know, Mononucleosis can be caused by Epstein-Barr virus, which is spread through saliva. You can catch it through kissing, sharing a glass or utensils. A person with Mononucleosis can be contagious for two-to-four weeks, so it's likely that Heiskanen won't return to Dallas' lineup until the middle of April.

The Espoo (Finland) native has played in 52 of Dallas' 56 games so far this season. In those 52 games, he's put up 29 points (4 G, 25 A), 20 penalty minutes, and is a plus-one.
