Mario Lemieux reaches out to Ivan Miroshnichenko following cancer diagnosis
Last week, projected 2022 top fifteen pick Ivan Miroshnichenko was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is receiving treatment at a medical facility in Germany.
There is a chance that the 18-year-old may miss all of the 2022-23 season, but hockey comes second at this point and the priority is to ensure Miroschnichenko makes a full recovery.
On Tuesday, Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux, who also was diagnosed with the same type of cancer in the early-90s, reached out to Miroschnichenko through a video call to chat with him.

Miroshnichenko, a native of Ussuriysk, was playing in the Russian junior league, MHL, with Omskie Yastreby prior to his diagnosis. In January, Miroshnichenko was ranked eighth among international skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
This was an incredibly nice gesture from Mario Lemieux to speak with Miroshnichenko. It's obviously a difficult time for him and his family, but to hear from one of the greatest players of all-time, who understands what he's going through, definitely means a lot to him.
