If the Edmonton Oilers want to have any success down the stretch and into the playoffs, they'll need to upgrade their goaltending, something that General Manager Ken Holland should have done last summer.

While the Oilers struggles throughout the season can't solely be blamed on the goaltending, the tandem of Mikko Koskinen and Mike Smith won't get them very far in terms of playoff success.

Edmonton has been scouring the market in search of an upgrade between the pipes, but one name that can be crossed off as a potential addition is New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov.

According to James Nichols of The Fourth Period, Varlamov won't waive his no-trade clause to join the Oilers.

"I'm told Varlamov won't waive his NTC for Edmonton. #isles" Nichols said in a tweet.

With Varlamov off the market for the Oilers, they'll need to turn their attention to another target. Other names that could be of interest for Edmonton include Joonas Korpisalo (Columbus), Alexandar Georgiev (New York Rangers), or possibly even Marc-André Fleury (Chicago).

The NHL's trade deadline is only thirteen days away, so it'll be interesting to see what Ken Holland will going to do with the situation in the crease.
