Source reveals how Fleury found out that he had been traded; he could elect to retire

The Marc-Andre Fleury trade from Vegas to Chicago has blown up on social media, primarily due to the fact that Vegas accepted nothing in return for the reigning Vezina Trophy winner. Part of the reason, according to DFO's Frank Seravalli, is because Chicago believes that Fleury may choose not to report.

One aspect of the deal that is just now coming out is that Fleury was not informed of the trade by management, instead finding out on Twitter that he had been traded to the Blackhawks.

In a separate report, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has suggested that Fleury, for family reasons, may elect to just retire from the NHL rather than to relocate from Vegas to Chicago.

These are some big, big developments and it is still too early to make a determination on how this will play out. Either way, this is definitely the end of an era for Marc-Andre Fleury. According to Fleury's agent, he'll take some time to discuss this with his family before deciding his next move.

"While Marc-Andre Fleury still hasn't heard from anybody with the Vegas Golden Knights, he has apparently been traded to Chicago. Marc-Andre will be taking time to discuss his situation with his family and seriously evaluate his hockey future at this time," said Allan Walsh.
