After just five games with Örebro of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), Josh Ho-Sang, who remains the property of the New York Islanders, is coming back to North America. According to
Örebro's official website , Ho-Sang was cut for physical conditioning reasons.
"We are grateful that we have been given this chance by the New York Islanders. Unfortunately, we feel that it has not turned out as we had hoped," said Örebro Manager Niklas Johansson. "Josh is far behind in training compared to the rest of the group and the adaptation to our game has not gone as fast as we hoped. In our situation...we feel that this is the best for us. We wish Josh good luck in his continued career."
Ho-sang, 25, registered one assist during his five games with Örebro. The former first-round draft pick (28th overall) in 2014 has managed just 53 games in the NHL to date despite being a highly-touted prospect at one point. During the Isles' training camp in 2015, Ho-Sang was sent back to the OHL as punishment for being late for practice. There has also been plenty of talk regarding his attitude, which seems to be the reason behind him dropping to 28th overall in his draft year.
The big question now is whether Ho-Sang's hockey career actually continues or if this is the end of the line. Ho-Sang was on load to Sweden and is under contract with the Islanders until the end of this season, at which point he remains a restricted free agent. He was sent to Sweden because the team couldn't see a spot for him in the NHL or even the AHL, and you have to think this latest setback will only deepen New York's reservations about adding him to their lineup on Long Island or with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.

Sportbladet in Sweden speculated that there may be other teams in the SHL willing to take him on. That seems unlikely given the way his relationship with Örebro ended, but certainly not impossible.shownhl_32890_shownhl
