The Battle of Alberta has reached heights this season not seen in a while and even the wives are getting involved. Saturday night's game between Calgary and Edmonton saw several fights break out, including goaltenders Mike Smith and Cam Talbot meeting at centre ice for a showdown. It didn't last long and it appeared Edmonton's Smith was the winner, landing a couple of nice punches to the face of Calgary's Talbot. His wife Kelly says she's proud of her husband, even though it looked like he lost.

"Cam fought and if he didn’t people would chirp him for being scared," Kelly Talbot posted on Twitter. "I don’t care of outcome he fought for his team! We can’t win them all with this game!!"

She also took the time to call out Edmonton fans, calling them trolls.

What's interesting about that is, as many people already know, Talbot played for Edmonton last season (and the three previous seasons), while Smith played in Calgary. It doesn't take long for allegiances to switch.

The Battle will have a chance to cool down now, as the teams won't meet again until the final game of the season on April 4th. There is, however, a chance the two could meet in the playoffs, which would surely produce much more heat and a few more memorable moments.
