Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner called it "probably the hardest shot I've taken to the head" and he wasn't exaggerating by the look of these photos. Monday night, Lehner took a patented one-timer slapshot from Alexander Ovechkin to the mask. Lehner would have to change out helmets mid-game as the shot really did a number on the one he was wearing. Here's video of the slapper:

Late Tuesday, Athletic reporter Jesse Granger shared further photos of the damage to Lehner's mask. You can see how the shot actually broke the cage and bent it inwards quite a bit.

Lehner said he could actually feel the cage pressing against his cheekbone following the shot. You can certainly see why viewing these photos. There's a good chance we'll see Ovechkin competing in the hardest shot challenge at the upcoming All-Star game.
