The Montreal Canadiens are now handing out a huge broadsword to their Player of the Game in the dressing room. The inspiration for the prize came from the captain of the Habs, Shea Weber. Or, more specifically, his father.

"My dad was a huge [Arnold] Schwarzenegger fan, yup," Weber told TSN. When asked if he's seen the film Conan the Barbarian, Weber replied he had, but not for a long time. In the film, Conan wields a sword much like the one the Canadiens are now handing out.

Last year, the Player of the Game for the Habs was given a cape inspired by the hit TV show Game of Thrones. The sword keeps with the 'warrior' theme. The person who receives it will have the responsibility of choosing the next recipient. Forward Jonathan Drouin is the first "keeper of the sword."

"I don't know how we're going to manage to lug that thing around and carry it around into cargo, but it's pretty cool," said Habs defenseman Brett Kulak.

The idea for the internally chosen award is one Weber borrowed from his coach in Nashville, Barry Trotz. Weber explained it won't just be for points, but could be handed out for a big check or a shot-block that changes the momentum of the game.

While Weber wouldn't reveal where he got the sword, or last year's cape, Drouin joked he probably picked it up on Amazon.
