While discussing the signing of Patrick Marleau to a one-year deal with the San Jose Sharks on TSN's Insider Trading, Bob McKenzie brought up the name of another currently unsigned player who he says will be returning soon.

"Another veteran forward who is technically still unemployed is 34-year-old centre Brian Boyle. How long that remains the case remains to be seen," said McKenzie.

McKenzie added there is "significant interest in Boyle at the moment and he's talking to "a number of teams."

"But some of those teams need to either clear some cap space or clear a roster spot in order to sign him," said the Insider. "But I would anticipate there's a really strong expectation that Boyle will be back in the NHL sooner rather than later.

Boyle has played 766 games in the NHL, totaling 216 points (124 goals, 92 assists). He played 73 games last season, split between Nashville and New Jersey. Over the ourse of 13 seasons in the league, he's also suited up for Toronto, Tampa Bay, the New York Rangers and Los Angeles.
