Florida Everblades general manager Craig Brush, as well as director of hockey operations and head coach Brad Ralph, announced that they have signed defenceman Trevor Daley.

The name will sound familiar for many hockey fans, as the now 38-year-old Daley played in over 1058 career games, and was most recently a member of the Detroit Red Wings in 2019-20. In his lengthy career that also included stints with the Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins, Daley scored 89 goals and 309 points. He helped the Penguins to Stanley Cup victories in 2016 and 2017.

Daley had announced his retirement after the 2019-20 season and at the time had agreed to join the Penguins front office. However, it appears that he wasn't ready to finish his pro career just yet. It will be interesting to see how he performs given the amount of time off, but nonetheless it is a very neat story.
