USA Hockey names leadership group for the 2022 World Juniors
With less than a week until the 2022 World Juniors get underway, USA Hockey announced their leadership group for this year's event.
Ottawa Senators first round pick (5th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Jake Sanderson was named team captain. Seattle Kraken 2021 first round pick Matthew Beniers, Los Angeles Kings 2020 second round pick Brock Faber, and Chicago Blackhawks 2020 third round pick Landon Slaggert were named alternate captains.
All four players named to the leadership group today are returning from last year's gold medal winning team. In seven games, Sanderson had two assists, Beniers had one goal, two assists, Faber had five assists, while Slaggert didn't record a point.
Team USA will open up their 2022 tournament on Sunday, December 26th against Slovakia at 9:30pm ET/7:30pm MT (local).
