Patrik Laine mourning death of father, who had a huge impact on his career
Some sad news out of the hockey world today as the Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that Patrik Laine's father has passed away.
"The Columbus Blue Jackets extend our deepest condolences to Patrik Laine and his family on the passing of his father, Harri," said the team in a release. "The family thanks everyone for their support and for understanding their need for privacy at this time."
It is not known how Harri Laine died.
According to several reports, Laine's father convinced him to make a change at the age of 12 that had a massive impact on his hockey career. Up until that time, Laine had been a goaltender, but his father thought he was better suited to be a forward, something that seems to have worked very well for Patrik.
