Just one lone player in the NHL was placed on waivers on Monday, as the Ottawa Senators waived forward Scott Sabourin for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL Belleville Senators.

The hard-nosed winger played 35 games for the Sens back in 2019-20 before signing a one year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2020-21, playing just 1 game with the Leafs and 6 as a member of the AHL Toronto Marlies. Sabourin had spent most of last season on the Leafs' taxi squad.

The 29-year-old has appeared in just one game for the Senators this season, suiting up against the Washington Capitals last week and playing a little over 6 minutes in the contest. He did register 3 shots, but ended the night with a -1 rating.

Sabourin has played the vast majority of his professional career in the American Hockey League, but did wind up on Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews' highlight reel in the infamous jersey nameplate check.
