After struggling in the first ten games of the season, the Montreal Canadiens have decided to send rookie forward Cole Caufield to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

In those ten games, the 20-year-old only recorded one assist, two penalty minutes, and was a minus-three, but was second on the team in the shot department with 22.

Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme was asked following Sunday's loss to Anaheim if an AHL assignment was possible for his young forward, and he responded with, "We are looking at all the options for all the players."

With Caufield being sent down, the Canadiens announced that forward Michael Pezzetta has been called up from Laval. The Toronto, Ontario native was a sixth round pick of the Canadiens in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Throughout training camp and the start of Laval's season, Pezzetta has proved that he is more than just a checking forward. He scored two goals in three pre-season games with Montreal, and has three goals in eight games with the Laval Rocket.

Pezzetta could make his NHL debut tomorrow night when the Canadiens host the Detroit Red Wings.
