It was a milestone night for Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf as Anaheim handed Montreal their ninth loss of the season.

With his assist on Troy Terry's goal in the third period, Getzlaf passed Teemu Selanne and is now the all-time points leader in Anaheim Ducks history with 989, only eleven away from point number 1000.

Getzlaf was named first star of the game, and spoke with Bally Sports West while surrounded by his family.

He was asked, "You're the all-time points leader in Anaheim Ducks history, your family is here to celebrate this milestone with you, can you tell us what this means to you?"

"It means a lot. You know, having my kids and my wife and my mom here, and obviously doing it at home here is the best. This is where I wanted it to happen, and I'm very grateful that I was able to."

The Ducks announced on their Twitter account that they will be honouring their captain at an upcoming home game.

Getzlaf, 36, was selected by Anaheim in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He's spent his entire 17-year career in Anaheim, captaining them for the last twelve seasons. Getzlaf was a member of the Ducks during their Stanley Cup championship in 2007.

Congratulations to Getzlaf on this great achievement.
