Things have gone from bad to worse for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are set to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, as the Pens have announced that defenseman Kris Letang will be unavailable for the contest.

Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Letang has been added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list, leaving the Pens with a barebones roster.

This is some really tough news for the Pens, who are now without the services of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jeff Carter, Bryan Rust - and now, Letang.

Per Pens head coach Mike Sullivan, Letang has tested positive for the virus, but at this point, it is an unconfirmed positive. The Pens are currently awaiting the results of follow-up testing. There is a chance that Letang may have drawn a false-positive.

The silver-lining here is that at least the Pens will have starting netminder Tristan Jarry available for the game.

We've seen the Penguins steal games when decimated by injuries in the past, but with the litany of key players sidelined on Saturday, it's certainly going to be an up-hill battle for the Pens tonight.
