On Saturday morning, the Winnipeg Jets announced that captain Blake Wheeler and assistant captain Mark Scheifele will remain in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol and will miss tonight's game against the Nashville Predators.

Wheeler, 35, tested positive on Monday and is symptomatic, and has to quarantine for ten days. He is eligible to return to the Jets lineup, if he tests negative, on October 28th when Winnipeg travels to Los Angeles to take on the Kings.

Meanwhile, Scheifele tested positive earlier this week, tested negative on Thursday morning, and tested positive again prior to their game against the Anaheim Ducks. For a player to be cleared to return, they must provide two consecutive negative tests.

Scheifele is asymptomatic, and if he produces the two negative tests in a row over the weekend then he could potentially return to the lineup on Tuesday when the Jets open their road trip against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Jets snapped their three-game losing streak on Thursday against Anaheim and will look to build off that win when they welcome the Nashville Predators to Winnipeg tonight. Puck drop is set for 7pm ET/6pm CT on Sportsnet360.
