The Seattle Kraken will play their first-ever home game on Saturday night following a five-game road trip to kick-off their inaugural campaign.

On Friday, the Kraken's home, Climate Pledge Arena, was officially opened at a ceremony which featured the team's owners, and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

Bettman told reporters that Seattle is "on the radar" to host an outdoor game, which could mean a Winter Classic, or Stadium Series game.

Seattle has several options when it comes to potential opponents, venues, and yes, throwback jerseys.

As for opponents, the ideal choice would be their geographical rivals, the Vancouver Canucks, which is roughly a three-hour drive north. Another opponent could be the Vegas Golden Knights, who were the last expansion team prior to Seattle joining the National Hockey League.

Seattle has two incredible options for venues. The first being Lumen Field, home of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks, and has a capacity of 72,000. The second option is T-Mobile Park, home of the MLB's Seattle Mariners, which has a capacity of 47,943.

While the Seattle Kraken are a brand new team, they don't have a jersey history that they could look into for an outdoor game. The City of Seattle does have extensive past when it comes to hockey. In fact, in 1917, the Seattle Metropolitans were the first American-based team to win the Stanley Cup.

Their jerseys featured a red S, with the name of the city written inside the S and looked like a barber pole, with red, green, and white as the colours of the uniform.

There isn't a set date, or even year for when Seattle will play outdoor, don't be surprised if it's next season.
