Pierre LeBrun says Connor Hellebuyck to the Edmonton Oilers isn't happening, because the Winnipeg Jets goalie won't play in Canada.
"I guess people have wondered about Edmonton for Connor Hellebuyck, but he's not gonna play in Canada; that's not happening," LeBrun said Monday on OverDrive.
Nick Kypreos reported last week that the Jets want Sam Montembeault so they wouldn't need a goalie coming back in that deal.
That one stings in Edmonton. A team that has given up goals in bunches was the most obvious landing spot on paper, and now it's off the board.
It's finding the perfect house online, then learning the seller won't even let you book a showing.
Where does that leave the Oilers? Right back with what they already have.
Hellebuyck carries an $8,500,000 cap hit with Winnipeg.

Connor Hellebuyck won't be joining the Oilers, leaving Edmonton with the same goalie problem
Edmonton allowed six goals in the opener and seven in the second game before tightening up against Seattle.
Devon Levi is 2-0 with an .810 save percentage, including a 19-save night in that win.
Tristan Jarry sits at .739 on a $5,375,000 cap hit.
Frederik Andersen is out until at least December, per The Hockey Writers, and the Oilers were already shopping a defenseman for a forward, per HNIC's Saturday Headlines.
Mike Babcock already joked after the Seattle win that the Oilers finally didn't give up a touchdown.
Winnipeg's crease is holding up fine in the meantime. Clay Stevenson stopped 29 of 31 in Monday's 3-2 win in Pittsburgh.
Stevenson is 27 and on an $850,000 deal, while Stuart Skinner sits at .909 through three appearances.
In Montreal, Montembeault carries a $3,150,000 cap hit and has dressed as Jakub Dobes' backup in both games.
The Jets are 2-0-1 and host Colorado on Wednesday, while the Oilers visit Anaheim the same night with Jason Dickinson expected to make his season debut.
Edmonton can cross one name off the list. If the Oilers still want an upgrade, Stan Bowman will have to find it somewhere else.
Should the Oilers still make a trade for a starting goalie?
