Vegas thought they had Game 5 in Utah's building, lost the goal to a video review at the blue line, then went out and won it anyway.

The first overtime winner went in. Bench poured over the boards. Officials skated to the headset and stayed there for what felt like an eternity.

Offside. By an inch. Maybe less. The call wiped the goal off the board and sent both teams back to center ice with the game still live.

John Tortorella's group didn't just lose a goal in that moment. They got dropped back into a tie game in a building they'd already lost twice this round.

This was the second razor-thin overtime ruling in 48 hours that flipped a game's narrative. On Sunday, Anaheim beat Edmonton 4-3 in OT on a puck that barely crossed the line. Same league, same kind of millimeter ruling.

You can see the Vegas celebration die mid-pump in the clip. Sticks lowered, helmets in hand, players staring at the scoreboard like it owed them money.

Shea Theodore answers the review with the actual winner

Andre Tourigny's Mammoth had Game 5 in their hands twice on the same shift. The disallowed goal looked like a stay of execution. It wasn't.

Shea Theodore eventually buried the real winner for Vegas. The 30-year-old defenseman walked into the series with 0 points across 3 games and a -2 rating. One swing changed his postseason ledger.

The series is now tied 2-2 with Game 5 heading back to Vegas. A team that was a millimeter from going down 3-1 on the road just stole the building instead.

Jack Eichel sits on 5 points in the series. Mark Stone has 3 points and 2 power play goals. The stars are still chipping in around the chaos.

Karel Vejmelka had been the wall for Utah with a .905 save percentage through 3 games.

Tonight he met a defenseman who had been quiet all series and picked the wrong shift to give up an inch.

Pavel Dorofeyev finished the regular season with 37 goals and 20 on the power play. He's still hunting his first point of this round. Vegas is winning without him producing.

How does a team that lost an overtime goal to a video review come back and win the same period? John Tortorella will use that question for the rest of his career.

Game 5 is now the loudest building in the bracket. Vegas walked out of Utah with the kind of win that rewrites the math of an entire series.
