The Department of Player Safety has made its ruling after what it deemed was an illegal check to the head by Dylan McIlrath of the Washington Capitals on Boston's Steven Fogarty. McIlrath was initially given five and a game for the check. DoPS has ruled the suspension for it is two preseason games and two regular season games.

Fogarty left the game and did not return. In its ruling, Player Safety said the head was the main point of contact on the hit and could have been avoided.
