The 2020-21 season marked Trevor Zegras' first as a pro, and by all accounts it was quite successful. The uber talented forward split the season between the Anaheim Ducks and the San Diego Gulls of the AHL and impressed at both levels, and has since made it clear he has no intentions of ever suiting up for the Gulls again.

Zegras, 20, has been considered one of the best prospects throughout the entire NHL for a couple years now, and believes he has what it takes to become a star NHL forward. For the 2021-22 season, he has his eyes set on becoming the Ducks number one centerman.

«Last year, with it being the whole COVID-19 year, I felt like I didn't really get to experience the day-to-day life in the NHL,» Zegras said. «I'm pretty excited to just get back to normal, kind of experience your first NHL season. I kind of just want to go there, be the best player I can be and try and help the team anyway I can.»

Though the Ducks are expected to struggle this season, they have some great pieces in place with guys like Zegras and defenceman Jamie Drysdale. While the team might struggle however, it could be a massive year for Zegras who is expected to start the season centering the top line. In 24 NHL games last season he notched three goals and 13 points.
