If you have been following the NHL even the slightest bit this offseason, you will know that it is no secret Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel wants to be traded. You will probably also be aware of the fact that the New York Rangers have been one of, if not the most talked about, possible destinations for the 24-year-old.
Recently, a Rangers podcast called 'The Blueshirts Breakaway' chose to poke some fun at the Sabres and how they have handled the situation with Eichel. They did this by purchasing a billboard which they placed right beside the KeyBank Arena in Buffalo, which read:
«Aren't trade requests a pain in the neck? #FreeJack.»
This is some elite level trolling given the situation between Eichel and the Sabres. For those who may be unaware, the team is not allowing their captain to get a neck surgery he wants in order to be healthy for the 2021-22 season. The injury he currently has forced him to miss a big chunk of last season, but apparently team doctors are instead wanting a different procedure done.
This has all led to a huge disconnect between player and organization, as Eichel clearly wants out at this point, though a deal has yet to be made. There is a ton of interest in the superstar forward, but given his talent level the Sabres' asking price to this point has been too much for all teams inquiring. This entire situation has turned into a major disaster, which makes this troll job by The Blueshirts Breakaway podcast that much funnier.
