The Minnesota Wild and forward Kevin Fiala have come to terms on a new 1-year deal, thus avoiding Tuesday's salary arbitration hearing.

Fiala, 25, earned just $3M in each of his last two seasons in Minnesota and will receive a sizeable pay increase to $5.1M with his new deal, which will run through the 2021-22 season.

A short bridge could pay off for Fiala, who is betting on himself after scoring 43 goals and 94 points over his last two seasons, playing a combined 114 games over that span. As The Athletic's Michael Russo points out, Fiala will be negotiating his next deal off of that $5.1M figure rather than his previous $3M figure.

Fiala was drafted in the 1st round back in 2014 (11th-overall) by the Nashville Predators. He was traded to the Minnesota Wild back on February 25th, 2019 in exchange for forward Mikhail Granlund.
