The Detroit Red Wings and Adam Erne have decided to settle on a new contract in advance of a ruling by an arbitrator. Erne has signed a two-year deal worth $2.1 million per season (AAV).

Erne and the Red Wings were set to go to arbitration on August 21st. He scored 11 goals last season in 45 games, matching a previous career high. The $2.1 million represents a doubling of his previous salary.

Erne, a former second-round pick (33rd overall) of the Tampa Bay Lightning, was traded to Detroit for a fourth round pick in 2019. His new contract will take the 26-year-old into unrestricted free agency.
