One day after signing a huge contract extension with the Oilers, defenceman Darnell Nurse met with the media and talked about the new additions the team has made in the off-season. So far, the Oilers have signed Zach Hyman, Derek Ryan, and Cody Ceci, while acquiring Warren Foegele and Duncan Keith via trade.

"I think, if you look at our team from when the season ended to now...we've made a lot of improvements," Nurse said according to The Canadian Press. "On the back end, we've added some really steady pieces that have played a lot of games and (that) you know each and every night are going to bring it."

Nurse added, "I don't think you can have enough of (that) on your team, and I think they'll bring that to our team and continue to push us to another level."

In the Connor McDavid era, Edmonton has made the playoffs three times, 2016/17 (second round loss), 2019/20 (qualifying round loss), and 2020/21 (first round loss). The Oilers front office is hoping that the new additions can help the team get past the second round for the first time since 2006 when they lost in the Stanley Cup Final.
