On Friday, the Seattle Kraken announced that they've signed unrestricted free agent forward Marcus Johansson to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.

"Marcus plays a fast game and brings us another veteran presence with a significant amount of playoff experience," said GM Ron Francis. "His speed, skill and versatility will help our forward group."

Johansson, 30, spent the 2020-21 season with the Minnesota Wild after being traded there in October 2020 from the Buffalo Sabres. In 36 regular season games for the Wild, Johansson had 14 points (6 G, 8 A), four penalty minutes, and was a -10. The Landskrona, Sweden native missed a couple of weeks in February after testing positive for COVID-19. When he returned to the lineup he switched from his natural position, left wing, to center where he played for a bit on a line with Kirill Kaprizov and Jordan Greenway.
