It looks like defenceman Adam Pelech will be a member of the New York Islanders for a long time. The 26-year-old has signed an eight year extension with the Isles. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the deal carries an annual cap hit of $5.75 million.

Pelech just completed a deal with the Islanders that paid him $1.6 million AAV. He's played a total of 303 regular season games in the NHL so far, recording 16 goals and 59 assists. Pelech and the Islanders had been scheduled for an arbitration hearing on August 11th, but that is no longer needed. Pelech has established himself as one of the top defensive defenceman in the NHL over the last few seasons.
