The Seattle Kraken announced on Thursday afternoon that they have signed defenceman Will Borgen to a two-year, $1.8 million contract.

Borgen, 24, spent the majority of the 2020-21 season on the Buffalo Sabres taxi squad but was able to get in 10 games throughout the year, which is a career high for him. In those 10 games he was held pointless while averaging just over 16 minutes of ice time.

Borgen was drafted in the fourth-round (92 overall) of the 2015 draft by the Sabres. He played three seasons for St. Cloud State before making his professional debut in 2018. He has spent most his time in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, but has played in 14 games at the NHL level. He will likely spend the majority of the 2021-22 campaign in the AHL but could get some games in with the Kraken if they run into injury troubles.
